Default PCGamer owners, a question

I'm still waiting to get the retail copy of the magazine and am very excited about GW2. However, I'm kinda in a rut right now as to what to do in GW1 because I don't know how much of that progress will transfer over.

Now, I know that characters themselves will not be going but their achievements can be shown through this hall of monuments. Fine and dandy. How about other things though?
-Skill unlocks
-Money
-Heroes
-Runes
-Etc.

Basically, I want to spend the time until GW2 comes out completely ignoring aspects of the game that will be forgotten and focus on stuff that is carried over. Anyone have a detailed list?

You do know that it says that the Beta tests for GW2 will start in 2008 right? i would assume a launch in 2009 or most likely in 2010, that means that you have 2/3 years still worth of GW1 to play.

From what i read on forums and adding some common sense i will say that :

No skill unlocks will not carry over, reason : cause there wont be the same skills in GW2 as there are in GW1 .Yes sure there might be mending but it might not be the same mending that we know and love right now.

I doubt money will carry over i also believe Gaile posted that she doesn't think it will, she even goes to say something along the lines of, its a new game so why should it?

Heroes most likely wont carry over since like our characters they will be dead by that time.

With runes it the same as with skills, most likely not as there wont be the same ( if any) runes in GW2

Now after saying all that, ill say, all these are guesses ,as will be most if not all of the replies you get because we just don't know.

Yes it does say somethings will carry over but i really think that those things are not such things that most people are thinking off.

Think more like ( for weapons ) a sword that has been passed from generation to generation, so you could choose one weapon and it will be made into your Family weapon.A weapon with so much sentiment it that it is important not because it is a Fiery Dragon Sword of Fortitude , but more because it still has that broken tip from when your great great great grandfather struck down shiro with it.

Titles that will carry over will be like if your great great great grandfather had married Rurik's sister you (200 years later in gw2) would be of the royal blood.
So i doubt any of the titles we have right now will transfer over , since none of them are that important when you look at it like that, we will most likely be getting some cool titles in GW:EotN

Hope you enjoyed reading

It doesn't mention transferring anything at all. It says GW1 titles and minipets will be on display, but it doesn't necessarily mean just any minipets you have. It also says "special weapons" you have earned will be on display that you can take out and use.

Earlier in the article, it describes building your Hall of Monuments in Eye of the North through quests. I have a feeling we'll unlock different weapons and minis through these quests. Gaile also mentioned some kind of "unique" armor.

No where does it actually mention transferring items.
------------------------------------------------
Gaile has stated that if you link your GW2 account with your GW1 account and name a GW2 character the same as one of your GW1 characters, the new one will have all of its titles.

Wrong forum for asking questions, and the article is rather vague, and it's not coming out FOR TWO FRIGGIN YEARS so chill.
